Youth Folklore Ensemble Slnečnica

Founded in 2016, the Youth Folklore Ensemble Slnečnica from southwestern Slovakia is one of the leading children’s and youth folk dance groups in the Bratislava region and has received the Gold Award at Slovakia’s ENIKI BENIKI folk dance competition. The ensemble currently has nearly 130 members ranging in age from 5 to 20. Through creative performances, the group presents Slovakia’s traditional folk culture and intangible cultural heritage. At the 2026 YICFFF, highlights will include Terchová music, featuring singing and string instrument performances, as well as the polyphonic singing traditions of Horehronie—both of which are inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
