Founded in 1948, the Children’s Folk Dance Ensemble “Dzintariņš” is the oldest children’s folk dance troupe in Latvia. Dedicated to preserving and promoting Latvian stage folk dance, the ensemble has nearly 200 members ranging in age from 3 to 18. Over the years, it has participated in international arts festivals in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Türkiye, the United States, and Ukraine. During its visit to Taiwan this year, the ensemble will present classic Latvian children’s stage folk dances, including “Jautrās dzirnavas” (The Merry Mill), the country’s earliest stage folk dance. The performances will also feature interactive segments that invite audience members to join in the dancing.
